voodoo-ray web design
The 3 and 30 second rule of the web
If they stay for three seconds, you have thirty seconds to give them what they came to the site for. If they stay for 30 seconds, the visitor is engaged with the site, and an engaged user is more likely to stay for a longer time on the site.
Let Voodoo-Ray make your website stand out from the crowd.
You think it and let us create it.

About
A few words about Voodoo-ray
the experiences and name
Having spent 25 years in the IT field and having created and designed websites for many years on and off, I decided to turn a hobby into a business.
I try to design websites that will catch the users eye instead of the bog standard boring sites. Using the very latest wordpress CMS which powers a huge percentage of websites on the net, I also incorporate various plugins to make your site stand out.
Of course having a ‘dog’ as a member of staff with web designers seems to be the de facto nowadays….so we have two! BaileyBoy and RosieGirl.
The name you ask? Well that is in homage to the musical genius ‘A Guy called Gerald’ who created my favorite dance song ever ‘Voodoo Ray’. The guy is an absolute genius and very modest with it also.
Fun fact! Gerald sampled ‘Voodoo Rage’ from ‘Derek and Clive’ but that sample only had a small amout of memory so it came out as ‘Voodoo Ray’!

The packages are just a guide to give you an idea of costs and what is included. Many businesses don’t fit perfectly into a package. Simply get in touch and we can discuss your website requirements.
Yes. We will discuss exactly how you want your website to look and what services you may wish to offer. We can then work out how many pages you will need, if you need specialised plugins to offer certain services and any other extra functionality.
If you need extra pages then we can discuss the prices and i will send the total cost in writing and the ammended price will not change before i start the work. You can then choose if you want to proceed or not.
I need a copy (text) including headings for your website and any relevant images that you want included.
It doesn’t need to be perfect as we can tweak it all before it goes live.
I also require any email addresses you may wish to be set up for your new domain name eg: contact@newdomain.co.uk
Yes, as with most web designers 50% is paid once we have decided to work together and 50% upon completion. The final payment isn’t due until you are 100% happy with your site. The first payment included the purchase of the domain name which you will own and will be registered under your name.
I usually ask for payment via BACS. However if you prefer to pay by PayPal or credit or debit card, this isn’t a problem. Just let me know. You may however incur an extra fee paying this way.
Every year your domain name (your www.) will need renewing. The domain name costs £20 a year.
Website hosting (where your website lives) is included for 3 months and then is £20 a month. This also includes plugins, backups and software updates. With most developers offering “WordPress Maintenance Plans” at a minimum of £25 a month, my hosting and updates stay true to my ethos of offering as fair a price as I can.
If I have used any extra paid plugins to add extra functionality to your website then these may also need renewing every year. You will be informed of these in your initial quote, so there will never be any unpleasant surprises.
Possibly. Some websites might require a plugin to add an extra function. Many plugins are free and I use these whenever possible, but sometimes it is necessary to buy a plugin.
An example of a paid plugin could be on a hotel website. You might want to accept online bookings and want your customers to pay at the time of booking. This can be done by using a plugin. Plugins range in price from around £18 upwards.
Before I design your website, I will always give you a fixed price and this will include the cost of any plugins, which will be listed in the quote. You will always know what the price is before I start work. The only time this will ever change is if you decide you want extras added on, after the initial brief has already been decided.
Many websites don’t require any plugins at all, except the security and backup plugins and these are included in the cost of the hosting each year.
Regardless of whether your website has 1 page or 100 pages, I support you fully for the first 30 days after your website has gone live. So what exactly does that mean? It means that I am here to answer any questions you have about your site, setting up email etc. The support doesn’t include me making changes to your website, as all requested revisions are made before the site goes live.
After the 30 days I am still more than happy to help or make changes and this will be charged at my standard fee of £30 per hour (minimum one hour). If the work I do for you only takes 15 minutes for example, then any remaining minutes are carried forward and can be used at any time.
